HI, MY NAME IS MEGAN!
"How is it July? Wait, how is it the end of July?"
This was me. Every year for my entire adult life. The accompanying feelings were: despair and hopelessness. How had half of the year gone by and I had failed to reach any of my goals and make any meaningful progress in my life?
Here's how: I was living out of habit.

Each day was a monotonous assembly line of tasks. The laundry. The dishes. Going here and there. Running this errand and that one. Picking up this thing. Folding the quilt on the couch for the millionth time. Dinner time. The familiar exhaustion of a day spent treading water.
40-50% of our daily actions are done out of habit. A good chunk of our other actions are reactionary: taking a new route because of road closures, getting a call to pick up our kid early from school, why did the grocery store have to move the Oreos? They were right here...
Then there's that delightful sliver of actions that we take with thoughtfulness and purpose in the direction of the life we want.
The thing is, when something comes up, when we're exhausted, sick, or upset, that delightful sliver is the first to go.
This is how I always found myself totally baffled every July.
Until now.
This year, I am decidedly not in the same place I was last year. I still do the laundry. I still do the dishes. I still run around here and there. The kids still want dinner every night. I still fold that quilt a hundred times a day.
I still live out of habit.
But I established one critical, powerful habit.
That transformed everything.
Now, I'm in a turning point in my life, doing work that absolutely lights me up. I have more energy than I've ever had. The momentum that I have always been craving is finally building. I'm moving forward and making progress. Nothing feels the same.
All because I established one Transformational Habit.
